American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Respiratory Care Unit night shift role requiring active NJ or Compact RN license and 2+ years PCU experience.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Respiratory Care Unit setting within an academic medical center
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratios of 1:4 for PCU/IMC and 1:5-6 for MS/Tele
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Every other weekend requirement
• Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
• Floating required within skillset without exception, based on census, patient acuity and staffing needs

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, including care of ventilated and tracheostomy patients
• Experience with IV therapy including central/PICC/peripheral line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator care, chest tube management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• GU/Renal skills required: feeding tube management and pre/post hemodialysis care
• Medication management skills required: heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), PCA, procedural sedation monitoring, and IV insulin protocols
• Cardiac/general skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation/management and telemetry monitoring
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to PCU/respiratory patients including ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Work within a Level I Trauma Center and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center at an academic medical center affiliated with Rutgers University

• Former RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before returning for travel assignments
