American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU/Observation Unit position requiring NJ or Compact licensure and acute care telemetry experience.

Details

• Observation Unit setting caring for CIWA/ETOH withdrawal, stroke, and ED holding patients
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• 13-week assignment length
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 depending on census and acuity
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within skillset to all MS/Tele/IMC units and ED holding as needed
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience relevant to the position
• Skilled in IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line care
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and phlebotomy
• Experience with dysrhythmia management and telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote)
• Experience with heparin protocols
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE use
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care within an academic medical center that is a Level I Trauma Center and Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for emergent patient situations
• Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays based on unit needs
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Locals accepted at the same rate

• Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
