American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45-7:15
• 8 weekend shifts required within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, a combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shifts as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license - both Kansas and Missouri, or compact license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required, with no employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
• Previous Charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, ER Holding, and Neuro Stepdown experience
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac drip management, heparin protocols, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution experience
• SSN required at time of consideration
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a progressive care/telemetry patient population including post-cardiac, post-MI, CVA, and renal failure cases
• Assist with cardiac and respiratory monitoring, medication administration, and rapid response as needed
• Complete required EMR (Epic), infusion pump, and glucometer training modules prior to start
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, and must be finalized at time of consideration
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers accepted
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of employment, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
