American Traveler is hiring an Outpatient Surgery RN with pediatric general surgery experience and required call/weekend coverage.

Details

• Work in an Outpatient Surgery/Procedure Center unit within a fast-paced pediatric hospital setting
• Care for inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients, with adult patients on rare occasions
• Minor surgical cases include ENT, Plastics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Urology, Dentistry, and Oncology
• Endoscopy training available (GI & Pulmonary) if needed
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Call required: 5 weekday shifts and 2 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Weekend coverage required
• No floating required
• Documentation via SurgiNet (Cerner)

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of submission (no pending or temporary licenses)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Minimum 2 years of acute or outpatient experience required, with the majority of experience in the listed surgical specialties
• Verified EMR/Cerner charting system experience required
• General surgery experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Two supervisor-level references required, from the unit applied to, dated within 1 year of start date or from most recent employer
• Skilled in administration of blood and blood products, infection control, laser safety, specimen handling/labeling, starting peripheral IVs, universal protocol (time out) procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization
• Experience with equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of minor pediatric surgical procedures
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before reapplying to travel positions
• Up to 16 hours of orientation modules may be required, varying by specialty
• Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments when applicable, though floating is not required for this role
