American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an evening-shift assignment requiring PACU experience in both Phase I and Phase II recovery along with a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Perianesthesia unit spanning Main PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 10 Phase I bays) and East PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 17 Phase I bays) within the same building
• Combined average census of 60-80 patients per day across East and Main PACUs
• Cares for inpatient, outpatient, and observation patients across pediatric and adult populations
• Patient types include general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic, ENT, endovascular, fistulas, bronchs, post-cath, and post-IR/Neuro IR cases
• Patient ratios are 1:3 in pre-op, 1:2 in Phase I, and 1:3 in Phase II
• Works both Phase I and Phase II recovery
• 8-hour evening shift, 11:00am-7:30pm, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
• No weekend rotation, on-call, or holiday requirements
• Regular floating between Phase I and Phase II Recovery for Main+6 PACU and East PACU
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• CAPA or CPAN certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience required
• Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred
• Must be able to read/interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
• Experience providing discharge instructions required
• Experience with art lines, TR bands, chest tubes, and CBI required
• Epic EMR experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with extensive PACU experience
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide perianesthesia nursing care across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery settings
• Occasional intubated patients or assistance with intubation may occur in PACU, though vented/ICU-level patients typically go to ICU post-op
• Supported by Charge RN, management, CNA/LPN staff, bedside and nursing station telemetry, 24/7 hospitalist and respiratory therapy coverage, and anesthesiologists/CRNAs/surgeons
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 8-hour shifts in the department
• Scrubs must be any solid, professional color with no logos, graphics, or designs
• Free parking available on-site
• Maximum of 4 days RTO approved
• Candidates previously employed as staff at this facility's PACU are not eligible
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
