American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care/Intermediate Care unit requiring tele experience, NIHSS certification, and current NY licensure.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute inpatient hospital setting with Trauma Level 2 designation
• Patient population includes acute coronary syndrome, cardiac drips, post PTCA/stent, heart failure, ETOH withdrawal, and other cardiac/vascular diagnoses requiring close monitoring
• Nurse to patient ratio of 3:1
• Support staff include CNAs/PCTs (3 per shift) and telemetry techs
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement of at least every other weekend, with schedule adjusted to meet unit needs
• Floating required, with priority given to appropriate units first as part of the Resource Float team
• No call requirements
• Holiday coverage required if needed
• Uses Epic for documentation and MAK for medication administration

Requirements

• Active RN license in New York required, with proof of pending licensure accepted at time of submission
• AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required prior to start
• Minimum of 1 year of telemetry nursing experience required
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in specialty required
• Experience with insulin drips, cardiac drips, IV starts, and post cardiac cath care required
• Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable

Additional Information

• Provide progressive care nursing to patients with cardiac and vascular conditions requiring close monitoring and titration of drips
• Duties include starting IVs, performing EKGs, and managing post cardiac cath care
• 1-2 days of orientation provided
• Dress code requires navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe nonskid shoes, minimal jewelry, professional groomed hair, no beards, and no artificial nail polish
• Public transportation is not accessible in this area, so a reliable personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April
• Local candidates accepted within 50 miles at local rate, with radius rate applying for candidates 51-100 miles away
