Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN with an active IL RN license and 2 years of experience for a night shift assignment caring for technology-dependent pediatric patients.

Details

• Children's hospital PICU/inpatient unit with 39 beds serving all specialties
• Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% having technology dependence such as tracheostomies and chronic ventilators
• Acute care unit for chronic illness; no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30), 3x12 schedules also accepted
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Vent, tracheostomy, and G-tube experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide care for pediatric patients with tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence
• No previous experience with drips, surgical, or transitional patients on this unit
• Scrubs may be any color, neat and clean, with peds-themed attire encouraged
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to the start date; no RTO may be added once the contract has started
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Facility will not consider previous staff members for travel assignments
• Free parking available in shared lots on the hospital's public park grounds
