American Traveler is hiring a CVOR RN for a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital, requiring scrub and circulate skills for adult or pediatric open-heart cases and EPIC experience.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital with 794 beds, located in Oak Lawn, IL
• Surgery Room unit with 28 beds, including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular procedures
• Handles approximately 60-75 cases per day across outpatient, inpatient, and trauma settings
• Patient types include GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), donor cases, general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open hearts/CABGs
• Hybrid room handles 5-10 cases/day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions (adults only)
• Approximately 20% pediatric caseload (open hearts, appendectomies, cholecystectomies)
• No liver or lung transplant cases
• Participates in Gifts of Hope cases
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• No floating required
• Weekend rotation required every 4th weekend (Sat-Sun)
• Variety of shift options including 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, both day and night
• OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew coverage overnight and after 1700 on weekends
• On-call requirements vary by shift/service line, with a 30-minute response time and on-site sleeping room available
• Schedule is rotation-based with no self-scheduling; staff are assigned based on need

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2-3 years of acute care experience required
• Experience scrubbing and circulating for adult or pediatric open-heart cases required
• Critical care experience required
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Scrub and circulate for a wide range of surgical case types including cardiovascular, transplant, trauma, and pediatric cases
• Supported by charge nurses, resource nurses, anesthesiologists, surgeons, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an EPIC super-user
• Orientation includes meeting educators and ANM, gaining login access, completing online modules, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit orientation
• Scrubs provided and free parking available
• Holiday coverage required
• First-time travelers accepted
• No radius restrictions; local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
