American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool role requiring 2+ years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience and an active DC RN license.

Details

• Work within a Magnet, Teaching, Level I Trauma pediatric hospital with 320 staffed beds
• Float pool position covering PICU, CVPICU, and NICU based on facility need
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
• 3x12-hour day (7:00-19:30) or night (19:00-7:30) shifts available
• Every other weekend required, with openness to blocked weekend scheduling
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses Cerner charting system
• Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required, with pending licenses accepted if application is submitted within 24-48 hours of signing and active licensure obtained before start
• MD/VA applicants must hold a compact or state license
• Current BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required, 3 years preferred
• Some NICU or CVICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, arterial line management, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with ECMO, post cardiac surgery care, and bone marrow transplant monitoring preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients, floating between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU as needed to meet facility staffing needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
• Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week off requires extending the assignment to make up missed shifts
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one holiday guaranteed based on preference
• Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
• Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
