American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) position requiring 2+ years of experience and mandatory call coverage.

Details

• Work in the Cardiothoracic Surgery/CVOR unit of a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital
• Unit consists of 6 operating rooms plus 1 hybrid OR
• Handles approximately 7 cases per day with a maximum of 15 cases per day
• Common cases include open heart, vascular, endovascular, thoracic, esophageal, general, hepatobiliary, and lung, liver, and kidney transplant procedures
• Uses Cerner/Surginet EMR charting system
• Schedule consists of four 10-hour day shifts per week (0630-1700), Monday-Friday
• Mandatory call required 1-2 nights per week and on weekends
• Weekend requirements include one weekend of first call and one weekend of second call per month
• Possible holiday coverage if on call
• Floating required to General OR or BNI OR
• Charge nurse role available
• Surgical techs also staffed on the unit

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CNOR certification preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Cerner/Surginet EMR experience preferred
• Must complete a pass/fail Foley catheter insertion exam on Day 1 of orientation
• Must complete SIMs Lab competency for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, maintaining sterile field technique
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• 12 hours of orientation provided
• Steel Blue scrubs required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with the health system within the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
