American Traveler is hiring a Charge RN for the Operating Room requiring 5 years of circulating/scrubbing experience, 2 years of charge experience in a Trauma-2+ setting, and strong general OR and robotics skills, with first-time travelers accepted.

Details

• Level II Trauma center Operating Room setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• 1:1 patient ratio
• General OR cases including trauma, urology, podiatry, ortho, plastics, neuro, GYN, endoscopy, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiac, and bariatric procedures
• DaVinci robotics experience required
• Epic EMR required
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts (06:45-15:15)
• Weekend work required on a rotational basis, inclusive of on-call shifts
• On-call required approximately 5-6 times per 4-week period, including one weekend call
• Weekday/weeknight on-call runs from end of shift to 6:30 am the following morning
• Weekend on-call shift is a full 24-hour commitment
• Must be able to arrive on-site within 30 minutes of being called in
• Floating required within specialty and to a sister campus as needed
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled

Requirements

• Active RN license (Maryland or Compact) required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• CNOR certification preferred
• ACLS certification preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a circulating/scrubbing OR role
• Minimum 2 years of experience running daily operations in a Charge RN role in a Trauma-2 or higher setting
• Previous Charge RN experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I and/or Level II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Strong general OR and robotics surgery experience required
• CPI certification required as part of compliance (Calm Every Storm online version accepted)
• NRP or AAP certification accepted where applicable

Additional Information

• Serve as Charge RN overseeing daily operations of the Operating Room
• Communicate effectively with the Anesthesia team, Surgeons/Providers, Nursing team, and Leadership
• Prioritize cases efficiently based on acuity, including trauma, emergent, urgent, and add-on cases
• Support a wide range of surgical specialties including general, bariatrics, trauma, GYN, urology, robotics, ortho, neuro, and podiatry
• Travelers are expected to float within scope with no restrictions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply given strong general OR and robotics experience
• Local candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility to be considered unless otherwise specified
• Returning staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Returning travelers must have at least a 6-month break from the system before returning
• Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
