American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level IV Trauma Center's Emergency Department, requiring a WI or compact RN license and at least 2 years of strong ED experience.

Details

• Work in a 24-bed Emergency Department at a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Additional overflow capacity includes 5 IR overflow beds and 20+ hallway beds
• Average ED volume is 90 patients per day, reaching 90-110 during busy periods
• Patient population includes 50% adult, 25% geriatric, 15% pediatric, and 10% behavioral health cases
• Cases include trauma (falls, MVAs, industrial accidents, GSW, stabbings), cardiac (STEMI, CHF), neuro (strokes), respiratory (RSV, COPD, respiratory failure), and mental illness/SI
• Routine patient ratio is 1:3, flexing to 1:4-5 during high census, or 1:2 for RNs with critical care background
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1845-0715), averaging 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Schedules are provided 4 weeks at a time, released 2 weeks in advance
• No on-call requirements
• Rare floating to assist other units with hard IV sticks, with no outside patient assignments
• Uses EPIC (required), Alaris, and Pyxis systems
• Telemetry monitoring is available at bedside and nursing station without a dedicated tele tech
• Unit support includes ED techs, charge nurse, triage nurse, case manager, physical therapy, intake counselor, public safety, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, house supervisor, and a trained forensic team, all with varying coverage hours

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of strong Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• ENPC and TNCC certifications preferred
• De-escalation training such as MOAB or CPI preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills required include stroke and trauma care, splinting, pediatric care, chest tubes, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and central line management
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with approximately 25% utilization
• Orientation includes login/system access, online modules, hospital tour, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit-specific orientation on days two and three
• Must be available to work 2 holidays (nights on eve of holiday, days on holiday)
• Time off requests up to 7 days are approved directly; additional days require manager approval via email
• Scrubs may be any professional color
• Free parking is available in designated employee areas
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have EPIC experience
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible for this travel assignment
