American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of cardiac tele experience and skill managing chest tubes and dysrhythmias.

Details

• Cardiovascular Stepdown/Telemetry unit caring for cardiac surgery patients post-ICU
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Rotating 4x12 schedule with both day (7a-7p) and night (7p-7a) shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required in rotation with client staff per facility policy
• On-call required only for certain areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab
• Epic EMR experience required; training class assigned based on prior Epic experience

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Strong cardiac telemetry/stepdown experience including chest tube management and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience caring for CVSD (cardiovascular stepdown) and telemetry patients
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide post-surgical cardiac care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and chest tube care
• Skills utilized include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation), IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Additional clinical exposure may include renal, GI, wound care, and endocrine management
• Cardiac drip management required; titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred
• Facility is smoke/nicotine free
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID vaccination or approved exemption required
• On-call coverage required within 30 miles/30 minutes of campus for applicable departments
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, with approval at manager discretion
• First-time travelers are not typically considered for this position
