American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Float Pool RN with PICU and NICU experience for a fast-paced teaching hospital environment requiring PALS, NRP, and ACLS certifications.

Details

• Float pool position covering PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, pediatric PACU, pediatric ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 36 or 48 hours per week, with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• 13-week assignment length
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Dr. Brown's Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
• Comfortable working in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Previous float pool experience required unless prior NICU/PICU float pool experience can be demonstrated
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric specialty units as part of a float pool team
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance and no RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1 year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once that threshold is reached
• First-time travelers may be considered if they have relevant NICU/PICU float pool experience
