American Traveler is seeking an RN - Telemetry for a night shift Med Surg/Telemetry unit role requiring a WI or compact RN license and 1-2 years of acute care experience.

Details

• Med Surg/Telemetry unit with 28 beds
• Patient population includes rule-out chest pain, post-cath lab, CHF, AFib, rule-out CVA/TIA, post-IR, cellulitis, and AKI cases
• Rarely surgical patients; average patient stay is 36 hours
• Admits and discharges 2-3 patients daily
• Patient ratios are 1:4-5 during day shift and 1:6-8 during night shift
• Tech ratios are 1:5 during day shift and 1:9 during night shift
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with 24/7 tele tech support
• Charts in EPIC and uses Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
• 12-hour night shift schedule from 1900-0730, 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units and ED Holding (1:4 ratio), with travelers prioritized for floating

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1-2 years of acute care experience, with at least 12 months in the specialty area within the last year
• Skills required include ostomy care, drain management, and IV skills
• Experience with drip management including heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone
• Basic Med Surg skills required; observation unit experience preferred
• Experience with admissions/discharges in a fast-paced environment preferred
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Candidate's date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet designation and a Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Charge nurse takes a lighter patient assignment to support the unit
• 24/7 support from unit secretary, hospitalist, and respiratory therapy
• Phlebotomy support available for peripheral blood draws
• Documentation of pain levels required before and after administering pain medication, with adherence to pain score protocols
• Orientation includes 4-8 hours of NEO orientation during day shift plus one full shift on the unit
• Facility fatigue policy limits staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday per season, including Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Scrubs may be any color except camo or denim
• Free parking available in designated areas
• RTO of up to 7 days can be approved, with additional requests reviewed by the manager
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignments
