American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN for a Magnet-designated Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience with recent Level II trauma CVICU background.

Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet teaching hospital
• Patient population includes complex cardiac and vascular patients, advanced heart failure, cardiac surgery, valve replacements (TMVR, TAVR, TTVR), adult congenital heart disease, VAD, heart transplant, vascular surgery, ENT, plastics, ortho, OB-GYN, and urology
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Weekend requirement
• Floating within hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license, OR license required at time of submission
• Pending license accepted if application has been submitted and received by licensing board
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN, BSN, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last 2 years in a Level II trauma setting
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required: IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, IV starts and maintenance, interpretation of ABGs, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV insulin protocols
• Preferred skills: chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, continuous IV paralytics/sedation administration, emergency medication administration, procedural sedation monitoring, management of multisystem organ dysfunction, lumbar drain management, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath care, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions
• Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required; charge RN references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular and vascular surgical patients in a high-acuity CVICU environment
• No prints allowed on scrubs; scrubs provided for OR use
• First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of experience
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Must work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
• Maximum RTO of 1 week during the assignment, with a maximum of 7 RTO days approved for the holiday season
• Former OHSU employees or previous travelers at OHSU must be gone a minimum of 6 months before returning and must provide a reference from their previous OHSU manager
• Candidates may be required to float to an affiliate hospital nearby based on unit needs
