American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position in an Emergency Observation Unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

• Emergency Observation Unit in a Trauma Level III teaching hospital
• 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:5
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• EMR: EPIC
• IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing via Omnicell
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH peds) as needed within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management)
• Experience managing PCA pumps and medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• EPIC EMR experience required
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele and Emergency Observation Unit setting
• Supported by a Supervisor, Charge RN, Resource RN, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage, and a dedicated IV/VAT team
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers will be required to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 RTO days may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the assignment
• Navy scrub color required

• First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
