American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 12-hour night shift contract requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

• Nursing unit specializing in Medical/Surgical Overflow care
• Level 3 Trauma center with Stroke and Bariatric Centers of Excellence and a Chest Pain Center
• Average daily census of 51 patients
• Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services, COPD, DM, wound care, and geriatric patients
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-6, with surge times increasing to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, telemedicine cart, and doppler
• Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed, within scope of practice

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
• Experience with patients requiring tubes/drains, IV starts, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a collaborative team including Nurse Manager, Clinical Supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
• Travelers will be prioritized for floating assignments and must demonstrate clinical flexibility across units
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy blue scrubs required
