American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit position specializing in post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant care, requiring acute care surgical floor experience and stepdown/PCU background.

Details

• Hospital-based Surgical/Transplant unit (mixed med/surg and stepdown floor)
• Cares for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation
• Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery
• Nurses are assigned to either med/surg or stepdown patients depending on staffing and acuity
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• OR and PACU candidates will not be accepted
• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
• Preceptor and charge experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (OK state license or eNLC compact license) currently in hand
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor nursing experience
• Stepdown/PCU experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (no local candidates)

Additional Information

• Administer medications, initiate and monitor IV infusions and blood products, and obtain physiological data from patients
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments
• Communicate care plans with patients and families, including discharge planning and hospital procedure education
• Delegate tasks to support staff and coordinate referrals for patient care needs as needed
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once for a total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before being eligible for another contract
• Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) must begin immediately upon offer acceptance
• Transplant experience preferred
