American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) night shift travel assignment at a Critical Access Hospital, requiring at least 2 years of LDRP experience and the ability to work autonomously on nights and weekends.

Details

• Work in a secure, 6-bed LDRP unit (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• Unit handles approximately 160 births per year (12–17 per month), caring for laboring and postpartum patients, well baby and well mom, high-risk and critical patients including hypertensive crisis and hemorrhage protocol — no twins or triplets
• One dedicated OR suite on unit for C-sections; RNs serve as the newborn nurse during C-sections (not circulator)
• RNs manage couplet care (both mom and baby) for the first few hours post-delivery
• Titratable drips include Mag, Pitocin, and Insulin (when transferring out)
• EFM system: Centricity
• EMR: Epic
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines with 2 RNs per shift
• OB is not in-house; available via on-call from clinic M–F and called in for laboring patients; shared hospitalist with Med/Surg
• Anesthesia is on-call after hours with a 30-minute response time; Peds physician available days M–F, on-call nights and weekends
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
• Weekends distributed equitably with core staff
• Self-scheduling with core staff
• Floating responsibilities consist of helping hands or safety attendant duties only — not picking up shifts in other departments

Requirements

• Active Idaho (ID) or Compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications (all must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), S.T.A.B.L.E., and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required; candidates with strong recent L&D experience may be considered if they also have some LDRP or postpartum experience within the last few years
• Must be comfortable managing laboring patients autonomously and independently, particularly on nights and weekends
• Newborn stabilization skills required
• Epic EMR experience
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 1 facility day (including Epic training) plus 2 12-hour shifts on the unit
• A St. Luke's core nurse serves as Charge RN when possible; house supervisor available for additional support
• No nurse aides or surgical techs currently on the unit
• Holidays are distributed equitably with core staff
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
• Travelers are first to float for helping hands or safety attendant tasks; floating to other departments is not required
• Scrub color: travelers may wear their own scrubs outside of delivery; surgical scrubs required during deliveries
• Former permanent employees must have been away from the facility for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
