American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery/Postpartum position in Glendale, CA, requiring 2 years of L&D experience and C-section scrub, recovery, and circulating skills.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a combined Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit
• Unit consists of 10 L&D beds, 2 OR suites within L&D, 2 triage beds, and 18 postpartum beds
• Delivers patients as early as 23 weeks gestation; patient population includes high-risk antepartum, hypertensive disorders, and perinatology-supported cases — known cardiac abnormalities are transferred out
• Patient ratios: 1:1 near delivery, 1:2 otherwise, and 1:4 couplets on postpartum
• Fetal monitoring uses the Obix system
• EMR is Cerner
• 12-hour night shifts (7p start), every other weekend requirement (4 shifts per 4-week period)
• First to float; L&D may float to postpartum, though the units do not typically work interchangeably
• No on-call requirement
• Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
• Scrub techs available on L&D; no nurse aides or OB techs on postpartum
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Charge nurse is shared between L&D and postpartum

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (or Compact/NLC license) required — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications (all must be active; pending not accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• C-section experience required, including scrub, recovery, and circulating roles
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of 3 floor-specific shifts (12 hours each)
• Candidates must cover one major and one minor holiday; major RN holidays include Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year — candidates previously placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• The facility averages approximately 130 births per month
• Perinatology support is available on-site; OB/neonatologist is not currently in-house
• Postpartum floating is limited — travelers with NICU feeder/grower background may float to NICU; L&D typically floats to postpartum only
