American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring PACU, ICU, or ED background and active WV or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Phase 1 PACU only — travelers do not cover Phase 2
• 17-bed PACU unit in an acute care hospital setting
• ICU patients are commonly held in the PACU when ICU beds are unavailable, including overnight holds
• Occasional ventilator, BiPAP, and CPAP patients; Respiratory Therapy manages initial setup and rounds
• RNs perform EKGs and review results, consulting physicians for official reads — patients are on central monitoring
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts (0800–2030)
• Weekends and holidays required as scheduled
• Call schedule in effect — each staff member is assigned weekend call approximately once every 3 months (Saturday and Sunday, 7a–7p); on-call response time is 60 minutes
• No night call coverage; staff are on-site at night except Sundays
• Holiday call is assigned on a rotating basis, with no more than one major holiday per year
• No floating to other units required for travel RNs
• No self-scheduling; shifts are designated day or night

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• PACU experience preferred; ICU or ED experience also considered
• Epic EMR experience beneficial
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided by the facility and are retrieved daily from a vending machine system — no personal scrubs needed
• Team Leads are available on the unit and assist with lunch coverage but do not take patient assignments; no PCAs on the unit
• Orientation will be customized to fit travel RN needs
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before returning; cumulative time worked within WVU Medicine cannot exceed one year before a 2-year break is required
• Two references are required for consideration: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference (e.g., Charge RN)
• A driver's license and copies of all current certifications are required for consideration
• A skills checklist completed within the past year is required for consideration
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
