Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro/Stroke unit position requiring stroke experience, NIH certification, and telemetry capability in a 28-bed adult med/surg unit.

Details

• 28-bed Neuro/Stroke unit serving adult patients in a hospital setting
• Telemetry capability available on unit, with monitor techs supporting telemetry patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Unit is supported by PCTs and a Healthcare Unit Coordinator
• Virtual sitter monitoring is available
• Day shift: 06:30–19:00
• Up to 6 weekend shifts required during the assignment
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required (must be AHA-issued)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Prior stroke unit nursing experience required
• Ability to work in a stressful environment with minimal supervision
• Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
• Driver's License required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Implement and monitor patient care plans, and communicate patient condition changes as appropriate
• Serve as primary coordinator across disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• Apply critical thinking and decisive judgment within scope of practice
• Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required
