American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for an acute care hospital position requiring broad surgical service line proficiency, ACLS/BLS certifications, and Epic EMR experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital OR setting with 7 OR suites and 2 Endo suites
• Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, pediatrics, and obstetric cases across multiple service lines including neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedic, GYN, general surgery, and Da Vinci robotics
• Staff are expected to be proficient across all surgical service lines as there are no specialized teams — Neuro and all service line experience strongly needed
• OR technicians are present on the unit
• Charge nurse is present on each shift
• EMR system is Epic
• Schedule is 8-hour day shifts, 5 days per week, starting at 0630
• On-call requirement of one weeknight per week
• On-call every 5th or 6th weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Rotating holiday call required
• Floating may be required to Pre/Post-op, PACU (if trained), and ER for trauma cases
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — pending certifications will not be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
• Proficiency across all surgical service lines required; neurosurgery (levels 3 and 4) experience strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Driver's license required for consideration and will be used to verify permanent address
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility — including CHI or Dignity — within the past year; those employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• One week of OR-specific orientation is provided
• During orientation, candidates must pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% — failure to pass will result to contract termination
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination
• RTO must be declared upfront and is limited to 7 or fewer days for the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved
• The OR team has strong longevity and a culture of teamwork, safety, and collaboration — flexibility, willingness to educate others, and adaptability to a varied daily surgical schedule are valued attributes
