American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care Birthing Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience and night shift availability including Friday and Saturday nights.

Details

• Work in a 34-bed acute care Birthing Center with 2 OR suites for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 14 postpartum beds
• Patient population includes high-risk pregnancies (33+ weeks), preeclampsia, diabetes, psych/social diagnoses, and patients with positive illicit substance use
• Unit averages 150–180 births per month
• Staffing ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for couplets
• RNs are required to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin
• EFM system is Centricity Perinatal; PACU monitoring available post C-section
• EMR: Epic (required)
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts; weekend requirement is every other Friday and Saturday night
• Block scheduling available upon request
• Floating within the department is required — travelers must be able to function in Postpartum, including routine mom and baby competencies, transitioning babies, and attending low-risk deliveries; no floating to NICU or outside the department

Requirements

• Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications (must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP; intermediate or advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) preferred
• Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required; candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered with multiple prior travel assignments
• Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
• Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning newborns
• Epic EMR experience required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include titrating drips, circulating in C-sections, attending deliveries, transitioning newborns, and providing postpartum couplet care
• Unit is supported by a free charge nurse on both shifts, one surgical tech 24/7, and a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift
• 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist and NNP in the nursery; OB anesthesia provider on-site 24/7 with a call room on the unit
• Orientation consists of an 8-hour compliance day with the manager, an 8-hour Epic class, and 2–3 twelve-hour shifts for unit-specific orientation
• When placed on standby, a 45-minute response time is required
• Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff
• Scrubs are provided by the facility; a locker is also provided
• The unit manager actively provides feedback and expects travelers to be open and adaptable to facility workflows, policies, and procedures
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
