American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit at a Level I Trauma facility in Arizona, requiring at least 2 years of experience, active AZ or compact RN license, and the ability to interpret EKGs.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center in Arizona
• 32-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit (Tower 6) serving approximately 85% oncology patients and 15% telemetry/med-surg patients — including surgical, medical, and oncology cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Philips telemetry monitoring with RN responsible for EKG interpretation
• Equipment includes BiPAP and CPAP
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• 12-hour day shifts (7am–7pm)
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage based on unit rotation
• Float to other Med/Surg and telemetry units as needed
• Support resources include a charge RN (with light patient assignment), 2 PCTs per shift (days and nights), a SWAT RN for difficult IV access, and 24/7 RT and pharmacy coverage
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses will not be accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• Oncology and telemetry med/surg unit experience required
• Competency in sterile technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Chemo certification is a plus but not required
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer confirmation; two attempts are allowed
• Orientation includes a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering sterile Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — nurses have been dismissed during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field
• Orientation also covers lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only)
• Floor-specific orientation is 2 days on the unit
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• Dress code requires navy scrubs
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings are required; men must be clean-shaven (for fit testing)
• Candidates must have their own personal vehicle
