American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring at least 2 years of OR experience with strong trauma case independence and the ability to rotate between day, evening, and night shifts.

• Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Operating Room setting with a high-acuity surgical patient population including trauma, craniotomy, vascular, endo-vascular, and robotic cases
• Must be able to independently circulate; scrub experience is highly preferred
• Robotics and orthopedic surgical experience strongly preferred
• Schedule is structured in 6-week blocks, released approximately 2 weeks in advance
• 3x12-hour shifts; day shift 7:00–19:00, night shift 19:00–7:00
• Rotation between day, evening, and night shifts based on unit needs; travelers are generally placed on nights for approximately one week per 4-week schedule block
• Weekend work is required
• On-call required, with a maximum of 2 on-call shifts per week; on-call is typically scheduled on already-assigned workdays but may occasionally fall on separate days
• Block scheduling requests cannot be accommodated
• Charting system: Epic
• Parking is available at a cost of approximately $125/month

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; pending licensure will be accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience required
• Prior experience at a large Trauma Center is required
• Must be able to independently manage all trauma cases, craniotomy, vascular, and endo-vascular procedures
• No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel rate; local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

• Large academic medical center environment with a Level I Trauma designation
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as required by the facility
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccination and booster required; religious and medical exemptions may be considered
• RTO of up to 7 days may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
• Royal blue scrubs are required
