American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a strong background in cardiac ICU care, including fresh heart post-operative experience, with rotating day and night shifts.

Details

• Fast-paced, specialized Cardiac ICU within a 38-bed ICU that includes 6 dedicated CVICU beds
• All CVICU nurses are expected to care for ICU patients as well; not all ICU nurses are cross-trained to CVICU
• Patient population includes post open-heart surgery (CABG, valve repair, aortic repair), TAVR, and a wide range of ICU diagnoses including septic shock, stroke, post-cardiac cath, ARDS, and more
• CVICU patient ratios are 1:1 for the first 8–12 hours post-surgery, transitioning to 1:2 when stable
• Floating required to IMC and ICU as needed
• Specialized equipment includes CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Arctic Sun, Vigileo, HemoSphere, EVD, PCA, and Camino
• Rotating day and night shifts (3x12-hour shifts; 7:00–19:00 or 19:00–7:00)
• Requires 12 weekend shifts per 13-week contract (4 per 4-week schedule)

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent, strong experience in a fast-paced CICU or CVICU setting
• Fresh heart (post open-heart surgery) nursing experience is required
• Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• This is a new and growing cardiovascular surgery program
• The unit does not currently use impellas, VADs, or ECMO for ongoing management; however, nurses may cannulate for ECMO temporarily before transferring the patient to an ECMO facility
• The TAVR program is new and currently sees approximately 1–3 patients per week
