Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a surgical services position requiring proficiency in all three areas: OR Circulator, Pre-Op, and PACU, with rotational call coverage including weekends and holidays.

Details

• Small community hospital OR setting with 3 OR suites, 3 PACU bays, a Pre-Op area, and 1 anesthesia provider
• Surgical case mix includes general surgery, OB/GYN, ophthalmology (cataract), and orthopedics (approximately 1–2 times per month)
• RN must be fully competent and able to function independently in all three areas: Pre-Op, OR/Circulator, and PACU
• Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, with occasional extended shifts to complete the day's surgical caseload
• Rotational on-call required, averaging 1–2 weekday call shifts per week and every other to every third weekend depending on staffing
• Holiday call coverage is required

Requirements

• Active CO RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 6 years of RN experience required
• Hands-on experience in all three areas is required: Pre-Op, OR/Circulator, and PACU
• Current ACLS certification required
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform heavy lifting
• Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations and communicate well with a wide variety of people

Additional Information

• Responsibilities span all three surgical service areas: conducting pre-op assessments and patient education, circulating OR cases, and recovering post-anesthesia patients
• Additional duties include coordinating patient transfers, assisting with instrument processing in central sterilization, and supporting other staff members
• Practice follows national standards including IAHCSMM, AORN, ASGE, and ASPAN guidelines
• CNOR certification and scrub experience are preferred
• Reports directly to the Surgical Services Manager or designee
• Exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, and other occupational hazards is expected in this role
