American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position at a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 18 months of experience and Cerner proficiency.

Details

• 3 North is a medical-surgical unit specializing in post-operative care of colorectal surgery patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required, with the possibility of consecutive weekends based on operational needs
• Travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) at both University and Methodist Hospitals, with resources provided
• Unit cares for patients requiring negative-airflow rooms
• Cerner charting required
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 18 months to 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited institution required
• Must be fit-tested for an N95 mask or trained on PAPR device use prior to assignment
• Candidates must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of IU Health within the last 12 months

• This is an academic teaching facility — all travel nurses must be willing to precept and/or be assigned students to shadow them during their assignment
• Must be willing to float within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby; refusal to float may result in contract termination
• Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Local candidates are not accepted for this Med/Surg position
• Indiana (IN) RN license holders are not eligible for this Med/Surg position per facility policy (this restriction does not apply to Periop/OR, Allied, or Ambulatory RN travelers)
