American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced, high-volume Labor & Delivery position requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and familiarity with high-acuity obstetrical care.

Details

• Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with an attached obstetrical triage area
• High-volume unit averaging 20 births and 30–40 admits per 24-hour period, with up to 40 visits/day across 20 rooms
• Patient population includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeks
• Procedures performed include scheduled and unscheduled cesarean births, rescue cervical cerclage, antenatal fetal surveillance, IV hydration, and medication administration
• Double labor assignments are a daily occurrence on this unit
• Floating required as needed to the Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit
• Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Every other weekend required, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Epic; also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication protocol
• 13-week minimum contract length; contracts up to 26 weeks are accepted

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required; 3 years preferred
• Experience in a large, high-volume L&D setting (300+ births/month) required
• Proficiency in circulating for OR/cesarean births, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care required

• First-time travelers are considered, provided they have experience in a large, high-volume L&D setting
• Orientation is 24 hours
• Scrubs are provided (blue)
• Local candidates are accepted
• This is an exceptionally fast-paced, high-acuity unit — experience level and comfort working in a demanding environment are strongly emphasized
• RTO is not permitted after booking and cannot be arranged on-site; any call-offs or additional time-off requests may result in contract cancellation
