American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position at a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring strong ventilator experience and both MO and KS licensure.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 456-bed tertiary care hospital
• High-acuity pulmonary stepdown patient population including ventilated trach patients, COPD, pulmonary valve placement, BIPAP/CPAP, and respiratory therapy patients
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with occasional flex to 1:6
• Specialized procedures include endobronchial valves and ventilator management
• Cardiac monitoring responsibilities include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry unit monitoring
• Respiratory skills utilized include care of ventilated patients, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), HFNC, CPAP/BIPAP, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
• IV therapy responsibilities include port access, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Medication management includes heparin protocols, cardiac drips (including titration), and PCA
• Additional clinical skills include pre/post hemodialysis management, feeding tube care, CVA and TBI care, and isolation precautions
• Charting via Epic
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday combination)
• No on-call required
• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required
• Block scheduling is not available
• Free on-site parking

Requirements

• Active RN license in both Missouri (or Compact) and Kansas required and must be in hand at time of consideration — willingness to float between facilities in both states is mandatory
• Current certifications required: BLS and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/specialty experience required
• Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Strong ventilator experience required
• Experience in MS/Tele, cardiac telemetry, and cardiac monitoring required
• Two professional references required: one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN — both must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
• Pending licenses are not accepted
