American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and a willingness to float within a regional network of facilities.

Details

• 40-bed ICU within a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence hospital
• Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, high-flow oxygen (Opti-flow/BiPAP), overdose patients, CRRT, GI bleeds, and some trauma patients
• Patient ratios: 1:1–3 RN-to-patient
• Common procedures and skills include management of critical care drips (insulin, vasopressors, sedation), invasive line management (arterial lines, CVP), ventilator management, chest tubes, blood product administration, and wound care
• Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont Rapid Transfuser, and LifeFlow
• EMR: Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
• Every-other-weekend rotation required
• Floating required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH – pediatrics only); candidates who are not agreeable to this floating requirement should not apply
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in critical care drips, invasive line management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, and related ICU skills required
• Epic EMR experience
• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (24/7), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), Intensivist (24/7), IV/VAT Team, and hardwire telemetry monitoring with travel tele boxes; no HUC/receptionist on unit
• RNs are responsible for phlebotomy, with limited hospital phlebotomy support available
• Orientation includes facility-level onboarding (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays
• Navy scrubs required
• Free designated parking available on-site
• Strong teamwork culture on both day and night shifts
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates who have held a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
