Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry night shift position at a hospital surgical stepdown unit, requiring telemetry strip reading proficiency and an active MA RN license.

Details

• Work setting is a hospital-based Med/Surg Surgical Stepdown Unit (Davenport 5), comprising a 15-bed med/surgical unit and an 8-bed surgical stepdown unit with a total census of 23 beds
• Patient population includes post-operative surgical patients from general, GYN, vascular, thoracic, urology, oral, plastics, and trauma surgery specialties
• RN-to-patient ratio is 3–5:1 on the med/surg unit and 2–3:1 on the stepdown unit; PCA ratio is 6–10:1
• Required skills include telemetry monitoring (must be able to read tele strips), chest tube management, NGT, epidurals, and capnography
• Preferred skills include arterial line management and neo-synephrine management
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Night shift schedule: 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• 36 hours per week
• Floating to other units is required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required; conditional or pending licenses are not accepted
• BLS certification required — AHA only (Red Cross not accepted at this location)
• ACLS certification required — AHA only (Red Cross not accepted at this location)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Proficiency in reading telemetry strips is required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Flu vaccine required with no religious or medical exemptions
• 2 professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide post-operative nursing care to surgical patients across med/surg and stepdown levels of care
• Rotation is not required for night shift positions

• Local candidates whose permanent residence is within 60 miles of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston are eligible but may be subject to a different pay rate
