American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro position at an acute care hospital in Decatur, IL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• 13-week contract at an acute care, Level II Trauma Center with 372 staffed beds
• Med/Surg Neuro unit with an average daily census of 32 patients
• Neurological patient population including CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required as needed to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Teaching hospital setting (experience preferred)
• Level II Trauma experience preferred

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Med/Surg setting experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring experience required
• Experience with Rapid Response Team protocols required
• GI case experience required: colostomy care, feeding tube care and management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Medication experience required: Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Respiratory case experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, pre/post thoracic surgery, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with surgical drains required
• Professional skills required: isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to a neuro patient population including CVA, spinal cord injuries, TBI, and pre/post surgical neuro and thoracic cases
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available with a permit obtained during orientation
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• All time off requests should be noted upfront; ideally no more than 5 days of RTO per contract
