American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring 2 years of experience and active AL or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work setting is a 54-bed, state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center Emergency Department
• ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year across all age groups
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3–4 for all other patients
• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
• Shift hours are 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM (mid shift)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR system is Meditech (experience not required)

Requirements

• Active AL state or Compact RN license required — no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on RN license permitted
• Associate degree in nursing required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Emergency Department nursing
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and TNCC
• SECURE on-site certification required
• NURSYS verification required
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
• Active Social Security Number documentation required for consideration

• An on-site test is required for all ED RNs in addition to an online pre-test
• Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no HealthStream modules required prior to start
• Scrub color requirement is solid navy
