American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry - Heart/Stroke Unit (5 North) position in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience and willingness to float to other units and hospitals.

Details

• 42-bed Heart Failure/Stroke Unit dedicated to patients with neurological and cardiac conditions, including congestive heart failure and acute stroke
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:6
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• Uses Meditech EMR (experience not required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required — no pending or temporary licenses accepted
• No hits (past or current) on nursing license allowed
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry or Cardiac/Stroke nursing
• NURSYS license verification required for consideration
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration

• Works collaboratively with cardiologists and neurologists to deliver best-practice care for complex neuro-cardiac patients
• Solid navy scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for all assigned holidays

• A cardiac competency exam will be required upon offer acceptance
• Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules — no pre-start HealthStream modules required
• Timekeeping is managed through Centricity
