American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with pediatric experience to provide inpatient and outpatient care at a psychiatric hospital, requiring an active OTR certification and Maine license.

Details

• Work in a psychiatric hospital with both inpatient and outpatient pediatric populations
• Primary assignment on an inpatient tween unit (ages 5-18), with a daily caseload of approximately 12 patients
• Cross-coverage to adolescent and younger pediatric units as needed
• Variable schedule with 8 hour shifts, early starts possible depending on patient needs, and occasional weekend or holiday coverage
• Use of specialized equipment such as swings, crash pads, vibroacoustic chairs, trampolines, steamrollers, ramps, scooters, and medicine balls
• EMR system is Cerner Millennium, experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active OTR certification from NBCOT
• Maine Occupational Therapy License required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in occupational therapy, with at least 2 years of pediatric experience in any setting preferred
• Group facilitation and sensory integration experience preferred
• Ability to use standardized assessments for evaluations
• Must not have been employed at any Northern Light Health Hospital as a permanent staff member
• Permanent address must be 100+ miles south or southwest of Bangor, Maine for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for evaluations, individual treatments, and leading therapeutic groups for pediatric patients with diagnoses such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and ODD
• Therapists are expected to adapt and provide patient-centered care, exhibiting clinical reasoning and self-awareness
• Supportive team environment with regular meetings including OTs, recreational therapists, psychiatric staff, nurses, and clinicians
• Comprehensive hospital orientation includes self-protection, de-escalation, and restraint training, plus 1-2 weeks of unit-specific orientation
• Business casual attire is required, with jeans allowed, closed-toed shoes mandatory, and long hair secured
• Flu vaccination required for start dates after September 30, medical exemptions only considered with advance notice
