American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist for a 13-week inpatient and outpatient assignment in a remote Alaska health corporation, requiring an active OT license and current NBCOT certification.

• Day shift schedule
• Inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy setting, with potential work at a local Long Term Care facility
• Treats patients across all age ranges and diagnoses within Alaska's OT scope of practice
• Includes home visits and village travel to serve the surrounding rural communities
• Standard OT department equipment including hi-lo table, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities, and an ADL training room with bathroom and kitchen
• Village-based treatment typically includes a treatment table with therapist-supplied patient care materials (theraband, exercise programs, etc.)
• Office equipment including computer, telephone, fax, and copy machine

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Active Alaska OT license in good standing, or a good-standing OT license in another state with Alaska licensure pending — license required if applicable
• Current NBCOT certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required per agency submission guidelines; facility notes experience is preferred but not strictly required
• Strong didactic skills required due to Alaska's Direct Access privilege for occupational therapy
• Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural patient populations, including those who may not speak English
• Date of birth and SSN required for consideration
• Copy of photo ID and SSN card required for consideration
• 3 professional references required for consideration
• 10-panel drug screen within the last 90 days required for consideration
• National and criminal background check results required for consideration
• Proof of the following immunizations required: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tdap, and Polio (titers or historical shot records accepted)

Additional Information

• Provides evidence-based occupational therapy care with culturally sensitive, age-specific, and patient-specific considerations
• Frequent collaboration with medical providers is a core component of this role
• Orientation is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only
• Hospital housing is available and consists of shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; units are gender-separated
• No pets or dogs allowed in housing; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility
• The facility will reimburse economy-level airfare to and from the assignment; travelers must submit detailed flight and luggage receipts to American Traveler for reimbursement processing
• Flight itinerary must be submitted to the facility at least one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup for new arrivals but does not pick up returning travelers
• Returning travelers are not eligible for this position
• Candidates must have all credentials cleared by the facility recruiter before traveling to the assignment
• Competency documentation required upon arrival, including: IV/Central Line Site care, fall precautions, age-specific competencies, abuse/neglect, pain management, restraints and seclusion, end of life, blood transfusions, and current BLS
• A medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) will be administered upon arrival before the first shift
